My Projects Lately!

I've been working on a wide variety of projects lately! Here are some pictures!

I made the car seat girly!

I made the crib skirt and had enough to make a quilt to go with it! The back of the quilt is just the purple dot material.

These are two blankets that I made for gifts!

A few of the burp rags!

33 Weeks and Counting!

Porter's Big Boy Bed/ Guest Room!

I've been wanting to get a big bed before the baby is born so that when people come and stay they have a room AND bed they can stay in. Even though we probably shouldn't have, we finally got one! I need to change the curtains still and find some wall hangings, but those will have to wait for now! Porter does great at nap time in it. He fell out of it twice the second night so we put kid rails up. He is still waking up every night and won't go to sleep again unless he comes to bed with us. Great timing with the new baby about to come!!!

Our Very Own Easter Egg Hunt!

After our sad egg hunt at the grocery store I decided we would do one here! We just hid eggs all over the main level and they had fun trying to find them! Porter really did get some eggs, the empty bucket was after he dumped them all out on the couch! They had much more fun at home so next year we'll just do our own again!!!

Egg Dying.....

I don't know if the boys have done it before (I just asked and they said they haven't).... I tried to get it done while Porter was taking a nap, but we didn't finish before he woke up. We let him come down and decorate a few eggs. He ended it with dumping the blue dye. It resulted in one of his hands and a foot colored blue! They had fun and want to do it again sometime!!! Maybe I'll have to make it a yearly occurrence for a change!!!

The Crappy Egg Hunt.....

So last weekend we went to an Easter Egg Hunt at a local grocery store. We went early and beat the crowd. We decided to go inside and walk around and were in there maybe 10-15 minutes. We came out to a line of people. We waited and got to where we were up next. There was a sign there that said there's a limit of 3 eggs per kid!!! WHAT?! I think this maybe the first egg hunt we've taken them too and they can only get 3 eggs...... They were ok about it, until they opened the eggs and they were crappy prizes inside! Oh well, we tried right?!

Tomorrow we told the boys we'll do an Easter egg hunt at home with some of their candy. Maybe it'll make up for the one that wasn't so fun last week!!!

A Note To Self.....

I have reached the point in this pregnancy where I'm going to remind myself this is the last baby and I don't ever want to do this again!!! You can skip this post if you want, it's just for me :)!   I need to remember that I spent about six months not being able to eat much at all. I did lose weight instead of gain, but most of the time when I ate I had to choke it down. I have suffered from heart palpitations, horrible heartburn, being light headed and spending almost six months laying on the couch. The pelvic problem that I had with Porter, it wasn't a fluke. My bones move too far apart and it causes tons of pain. This time it also caused ripping pains in my stomach that while occurring prevent me from moving at all or they get worse.  Emotionally and mentally I have been a wreck! I have begun to have crazy panic attacks mostly in the middle of the night (never happened before), can't sleep without having to get up to pee, can't sleep just because. I'm forgetful, clumsy, and sometimes just seem to plain space out.

I love my kids. I'm thankful for the chance to be a mom, but I've reached my limit! I am going to try and reclaim me in the next year or two and just be happy to be me! However it does bring emotions too that I'm reaching the end of our baby days. Getting rid of everything from the boys brought tears as I let them go. I'm down to almost nothing, but the outfits they came home in and a few odds and ends.

I still have things to do to get ready for our little girl, but hopefully I will get them done before she gets here!

Another Porter Moment.....

He looks so innocent doesn't he? Well he is very clever and into everything! He is always one step ahead and does things that I would never think of. The other day I locked our bedroom door to keep him out. I had gone upstairs to get something in the boys closet and I heard our door open. Then I heard Porter exclaim, "I did it, I did it!!!" He was so proud of himself. He unlocked our door and got in there. How, you may ask?! Well....... there was a nightlight plugged in and he pulled it out, and used one of the tongs to put in the slit and turn! I only know because he was holding the nightlight up against him and I can only imagine that's how it went down! Perfect solution, problem solved! Oh boy........

This Little Guy......

has been so funny lately! While I was gone with my parents last week I was telling him to stop doing something in the car. He started shaking his fist at me and then said, " punch.....your.....face!" I couldn't help but laugh because he'd never said it before and I have no idea where he's heard that. Today we were picking Dave up from work and he got mad at Cole. He started screaming at Cole, told him punch your face and then said, " break....your....nose!" I again couldn't help but laugh. This time the other boys were in the car with me and they couldn't hold it in either! I think we're in for a ride with this one!!!

A Sad Goodbye.

I know it's only for a short while, but on February 17th one of my most favorite people in the world passed away. My cousin David was only 55 and fought Mesothelioma for almost four years. I got to visit him toward the end of October and knew that it would probably be the last time I would see him in this life. A few weeks ago my mom sent us an email saying that Dave started talking about one of his grandpa's on the other side that he was seeing him and that he was going to teach the angels to fly in formation (he was a skydive instructor). We knew then that his time was coming fast. I got the call the night he passed about 5 hours later. Even though we knew it was coming you still can't prepare for that moment that it's going to occur. We are deeply saddened and heartbroken.

On my dad's side of the family I only have two male cousins. They are both old enough to be my uncles and this one in particular was way more than a cousin. He made anyone he met feel like that. He gave the biggest, hardest, hugs that sometimes would hurt. He held on forever and made you feel like no-one else mattered when you were in the room. He'd pick me up as a little girl and flip me upside down while walking, he'd pull on my ears, chase me around, and was the big brother I didn't have growing up. While in town for his funeral I had a dream that he came to me, hugged me, told me he was ok, and then gave me a piggy back ride across the room and disappeared. When I shared this dream with his wife Fran she laughed, knowing that's something that Dave would do and to me it was a symbol that he could do it again!

His battle was long and courageous. At one point his doctor told him he was the longest living survivor that they had ever seen. I'm sure the loss wasn't easy for them either. I imagine as a doctor that you get attached to a patient who you see year after year and who gets more sick every time. I don't think I could do that!

Porter and I went with my parents to Lancaster for the funeral. It's the first time I've ever taken Porter to see my dad's family. My aunt and uncle from St. Louis were there as well as my sister Michelle from Maine. My aunt and uncle have never met any of my kids and Michelle has never met Porter. It was good to see everyone, but not for the reason we were there.

Porter was a trooper! He never cried on either of the car rides. The viewing was for three hours Tuesday night. We stayed the whole time. Thankfully the funeral home had a kid room with toys in it so we spent a lot of time in there. The funeral was the next day. It was beautiful out. The funeral was very emotional and went well. We followed in the procession to the graveside. There were more than 55 cars in the procession, the funeral home said it's the longest they've ever had. We arrived to many military personal as it was a full military burial. It was very emotional as they did the 21 gun salute, retired the flag on Dave's casket and gave it to his wife, and as one of them read a poem that was very fitting to my cousins life. Dave and Fran have been together since she was 15 years old, and were married for 33 years. I was glad to see she has such a huge support system as this will not be easy for her at all.

Dave, I love you! You are the best. I hope that I can be a sliver of the person you were. Life won't be the same without you. I'm glad to know that this isn't permanent and that some day we will be together forever. I'll never forget your hugs, your handshakes, your pet snakes....... I'll always remember the good example you set, the love you had for everyone, the kindness you showed. I'll cherish the love you showed to me forever. I'll never forget. Someday I maybe even will skydive, but I might save that for when you can be by my side......

The few days we were together for this were short. They were hard, they were sad. They were filled with hope of what's to come! We left my aunt joking. I told her that this isn't forever and that when we see him next she'll have her 20 year old body back and will be skydiving with him by her side. She looked at me and said, "Do I have to be 20? I think I was pregnant then and I don't want to be pregnant." I told her I didn't think she had to be pregnant, but that if she was it was the only place that you can skydive while pregnant because she'd just keep falling, there would be no ground to hit! She was laughing and it was a good note to leave on!!!
