So I had a check up today. I thought I would take the boys for the short appointment, but ended up being there for an hour and a half almost! This appointment my blood pressure was fine, I finally gained 4 pounds, and I wasn't dehydrated this time, so far so good. The doctor then tried listening to the baby and he's the only one who heard anything. Porter's heartbeat has slowed into the 130's and was very faint. The doctor felt a need for an immediate ultrasound and brought the machine in. He was glad to find our little guy moving around, and for everything to be just ok.
His heartbeat is slower, but not too slow yet which is good. The small space he has been growing in is even smaller to the point of him touching all sides even when he's scrunched up. I asked the dr. if he's just really big, or my stomach (for whatever reason) isn't big enough for him and the dr. told me it meant neither. He said that it means he doesn't have a lot of amniotic fluid. He then continued telling me that babies are viable at 23 weeks, but they like to get as close to 30 weeks as possible! Ok.....
So my next question was, "are you telling me my baby is going to be really early?" He told me that as of today everything is ok. I have to have another ultrasound in two weeks. They will start checking me to see if I'm dilating in 4 weeks and we'll go from the next ultrasound. They may have to start checking the amniotic fluid levels and if Porter doesn't have enough then delivery will be in the near horizon.
The only thing I care about is that Porter is ok. If he has to come early that is fine, only if he has a chance of survival. He is very confined at this point and delivery would make it so his body can develop properly with more space. This time around has been a roller coaster for sure! I will find it quite funny, if after all the worries and everything seeming to go wrong, he goes full term. At this point he will probably be early to some extent.
We hope that he waits long enough. I wasn't told of any restrictions or of anything I could do to make this better. So we will continue to play the waiting game once again, and hope that this too will pass!

Hang in there. We made it, as you know, to 26 weeks to the day, and it was still a close call... but he's alive and kicking!!! Keep us updated on your progress.
Thanks for updating us. I'm glad I have a way to keep track of you and all that's going on. I will keep you and this baby in our prayers. Take care! I'm soooo close, if you need anyone!
Hi Kim! I found your blog through Leslie's (I hope you don't mind). I love your blog! Hopefully your little guy will wait long enough. Luckily with modern medicine, he would have a pretty good chance either way. My blog is private. So if you want to look at my blog, then email me with your email address so I can add you to my list of people who can look at my blog. My email is emilyhammon@yahoo.com
Oh my gosh! How scary! Hope you are all doing well and please keep us updated!!!
Kim, I am so sorry. I hope and pray that everything will be okay. Pregnancy is hard enough without extra problems. Hang in there.
By the way...I LOVE the name Porter! Very cute.
